10 English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESA)
Teacher in Charge: Mrs M. Loh
To improve and support students’ English so they can:
- understand and use English across the school curriculum
- understand and use English in the community
- develop confidence in using English.
This course offers three lessons per week and is designed to support students whose first language is not English. It is a cross curriculum programme and gives support and instruction in the four basic strands of language – reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will increase their understanding of word meaning and usage; language needed in curriculum areas; and English grammar. The course also contributes towards preparing students for the Intermediate English language programme in Year 11.
We aim to enable every student to have the course that they prefer, however, some courses have limited places or pre-requisits that may restrict the student's choice.
