As part of the teaching and learning in this 11EXS course, students will complete both theory and practical lessons to develop their knowledge and apply their understanding of these topics.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participation in a movement context to develop and apply understanding of biophysical aspects, such as anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology.

  • Develop and apply understanding of te ao Māori including tikanga and the connections between the body and exercise in movement contexts.

  • Movement education exploring the impact on socio-cultural aspects, such as values, accessibility, racism, gender and media.

There will be an end of course trip (costs TBC) to consolidate the learning experience for students and to give them an opportunity to demonstrate their overall practical performance in the movement context.
