- Either Year 10 Option Music or Year 10 Core Music, and/or
At least 2 years experience and lessons on an instrument or voice, and the ability to read music.
In Year 11 Music you will experience:
Performances (both solo and group)
Composition (writing your own music)
Musical Knowledge (learning about musical styles, music literacies, social/historical context)
The various strands of this course work towards building a range of skills and understanding. It builds on the foundations of previous Music courses in Years 9 and 10.
Students will focus on performing and composing (interpreting, making, and presenting music). They will also further their understanding of the language of music (theory and aural skills) and the cultural/historical context that informs and motivates change in music. Students will apply these skills and knowledge to new musical situations through the study of several pieces of music in a range of styles, eras, and composers. This will also impact your own composition and music-making.

In this standard, you will study two pieces of music in a range of styles and from different musical eras. You will learn about the historical and social context of the music and its composers.
Recommended Prior Learning
10 MUS/10MUP or at least 2 years of experience on your instrument or voice.
Total Credits Available: 6 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 6 credits.
