11 Mathematics (H)
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms M. Sinhalage.
The skills developed in Years 9 and 10 are consolidated and extended. Students will learn to interpret data, communicate clearly, think logically, look for patterns and solve problems. The aim of mathematics at this level is to help students understand society and play a responsible part in it. The course is designed to provide a sound foundation for further study of mathematics and/or statistics. Students will complete one external NCEA Level one standard in this course. Students who do not yet have NCEA Numeracy will have the opportunity to sit the Numeracy standard.

Completion of year 10 mathematics to a satisfactory standard

Pathway
Mathematics is a foundation for further study in a range of learning areas including science, commerce, health sciences and information science. Satisfactory completion of this course will allow students to proceed to any Level 2 Mathematics and/or Statistics courses.
Assessment Information
Students in 11MTH will sit the AS 91947 external standard, and do a school practice exam for that standard. There will also be a number of topic assessments throughout the course.Students in any Mathematics or Statistics course at year 11 or above who do not yet have NCEA Numeracy will have the opportunity to sit the Numeracy common assessment task US32406.
