9 Digital Technology (9DIT)

This course is designed to introduce students to Digital Technologies, using the computer facilities provided in the computer labs. Students will be working in two distinct curriculum areas during their two terms.

 

Term 1: EGGS values – Students will learn how to use Photoshop and Illustrator to create a collage (print media) along the theme of EGGS values fantasy art. They will learn more about using Google Drive and cloud technology to create and backup their school notes, file management techniques, and other Adobe suite applications to support the creation of the collage. They will learn about implications while creating their artwork, for example copyright, privacy and security.

 

Term 2: Games – Students will learn how to code 2 dimensional retro arcade games (1980s’ style) using the programming drag and drop application Scratch, or Gamefroot for advanced level programming.  An introduction to block based programming using Scratch.  There is the opportunity to learn other programming languages depending on the student’s previous knowledge and skills. A ssociated with this will be the design and development of character sprites to be used in the game, using Adobe Illustrator. Students will also be introduced to binary (bits) and error detection in data.
