Course Description

English is a compulsory subject in Year 11.

The course is designed to: foster the enjoyment of literature, develop critical thinking, build literacy skills, and promote confident self-expression.

Course content includes the following:

  • a study of a range of literary texts
  • building understanding of language skills
  • exploration of New Zealand identity
  • developing awareness and response to social issues

Pathway

Year 12 English, English Foundation, Media Studies. We also hope to encourage a lifelong interest in literature and ideas.
