10 Core Art (Half year course)

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms T. Farrant.

Year 10 Core Art includes learning using wet and dry media, collage, sculpture, printmaking, painting and installation. Research themes in this year include global and local issues, art and the body, adornment and wearable art, and myths and legends to inform artworks.

The half year course will provide the foundation needed for Year 11 Visual Art AND/OR Art Photography.
From Year 11 Art students can continue with NCEA Level 2 & 3 Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking and Design.

Course Costs and Equipment/ Stationery requirements

Stationary requirements A junior Art Pack is required for Y9/10 Art Core and Option Art. Students are only required to purchase 1 x art pack for all options, as well as a Visual Diary for Option Art. The Art pack can be purchased from the stationary shop for $35 (prices may vary in 2025)
The Junior Art Pack contains: 1 x Document Wallet, a set of good quality Paint brushes, a 6B Art Pencil, a set of high quality acrylic paints, a palette.

We also suggest scissors, an eraser, and a glue-stick as well as a topped up printing account.

Pathway

In Year 10 Art Core, half year, you will work through an exciting range of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture artworks.
This course is a foundation course for Year 11 Visual and Photography.
