12 Art Photography
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms M. Martin
During this course students will extend knowledge of photographic skills, processes and procedures initiated in Year 11. Using a visual diary and our extensive photography and art book collection, students will research, explore, generate and clarify ideas. Students will identify, select and structure visual elements, communicating ideas and solving problems in the making of art.
- External Folio Submission - Students will generate an individually conceived theme based on a Site Investigation.
- Self Portrait Internal submission - Students will be introduced to a specific range of photographic techniques including studio lighting and photoshop effects using established artist models.
Course Costs and Equipment/ Stationery requirements
$50 Take Home Contribution. Students taking this course will produce products that will be taken home and therefore will be asked to pay $50 for the cost of materials. Students will also need to maintain credit on their print account during the year to support this course and it is strongly advised that students have a personal storage device such as a portable hard drive.
Recommended Prior Learning

Priority given to those who have taken Year 11 Photography - depending on numbers. Prefer students to have their own Single lens reflex digital camera (we recommend the Canon EOS range e.g.60D - 1500D) The department does have some cameras available for hire.
Pathway
Year 13 Photography and Scholarship. This course can be complemented by other Art courses and Art History. Fine arts, art history, commercial photography, graphic design, journalism, architecture and interior design, advertising, fashion photography, publications and film industry.

This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
Total Credits Available: 16 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 12 credits.
