10 Core Music (Half year course)
Course Description
This half-year course is designed for students with a general interest in Music who want to develop aspects of Year 9 Core Music. Students thinking about Music at Year 11, but without a ‘spare’ full year option choice may take this course as a useful way of keeping up their practical involvement in school music.
Course Objectives:
- To develop performance skills
- To develop musical knowledge
- To work creatively.
Course Content:
- Small group performances
- Creative music writing
- Music technology including computers, keyboards, recording equipment etc.
- Some theory, listening and research work.
Notes: Students must be prepared to work on improving their performance skills and are encouraged to have regular lessons.

Pathway
Over the next few years, you will be able to progress to some or all of the following:
Year 11 Music, Year 12 Music Studies (Level 2 NCEA), Year 12 Performance Music, Year 13 Music Studies (Level 3 NCEA), Year 13 Performance Music, Scholarship Music
