Course Description

NOTE: This  course cannot be selected alone - you need to choose either 2 or 4 half year courses in Science.

This course is designed to give you a sample of what Biology has to offer. We develop your understanding of the essentials of Biology in an informative and fun way. Students study genetics and microbiology - both areas of intensive research and practical applications in New Zealand.

Students will look widely and deeply into the use of microorganism studying the history, the science, and the effect of viruses, bacteria and more. After this we will move onto studying genetics. Again we will look at the history, the science, the effect and the future of genetics and where this knowledge may take us.

This course will set you up for either Year 12 Biology, or if you are not doing Year 12 Sciences, it is great knowledge to help you in any future path.
