Year 10 French
|Course Objectives: In Year 10 French, our themes are: Festivals, Forming Links and Food at a French Café. The language we learn allows us to: Communicate about our own background and immediate environment Notice how the French language is organised compared to other languages Explore French cultural practices and compare them with other cultures. Throughout the year, you compile portfolios for speaking, writing and culture.|
|Course Content: We develop listening, speaking, viewing, reading, writing, performing and presenting skills as we learn language that is useful in a variety of everyday situations, such as:|
Media - television, films, books, the internet
Holidays - tourist activities and attractions in Paris
Identity - personality, relationships, preferences and opinions, style, our passion
Where we live - our city, your home, meals, buying food, events and celebrations
Our talents - ambition, encouraging and persuading, rehearsing for a contest, judging
Culture - world geography (French-speaking countries), science (how to plant a garden), history (The French Revolution). Culture topics include Paris, Eating at home and eating out in France, celebrations on the French calendar, the regions of France.
We learn using songs, videos, films and games, Education Perfect and ImmerseMe, and the online resources that come with our text, Studio 2.
