Languages
Knowing how to speak other languages helps you develop critical thinking and a resilient sense of self and culture. You are able to confidently contribute to local, national and global societies. You are able to sustain relationships with a variety of people through understanding and valuing difference.
When considering your career, you can match a language with many other subjects. With increasing globalisation, to be able to communicate in more than one language is a valuable asset, regardless of your career path. No matter which languages you choose to continue learning, doors will open for you.
In Year 9 you can choose to take one or two languages. It is not possible to pick up a language in subsequent years if you have not started it in Year 9 (except in particular circumstances).
