Welcome to year 12 Japanese at EGGS!
Japan is known for its cultural influence on the world. From food, to anime and manga, to traditional clothing and decoration, Japan’s culture is unique and beautiful. Speaking Japanese opens the door to experiencing this new world of culture, history and tradition.
As NZ’s 4th largest trading partner, there are many opportunities for Kiwis to use Japanese both in Japan and at home.
In this course, you will study towards 20 credits at NCEA L2. The course will have a ‘youth matters’ focus, where we develop our ability to communicate in depth. You will learn to express and justify ideas, through giving detail and connecting your ideas. We will cover topics such as:
- Exchange trips
- Health and leisure
You will be entered into 4 standards:
2.1 Listening (external)
2.3 Interaction (internal)
2.4 Reading (external)
2.5 Writing (internal)
Course Costs and Equipment/ Stationery requirements
Highly Recommended: $20 Education Perfect (once for all languages).
Students must also purchase a 1B8 or 2B8 exercise book for classwork (approximately $2.00).
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 11 Japanese. However we understand that students may have learnt Japanese in a number of different ways, therefore if you have other experience please talk to Miss J Murphy ([email protected]).
Total Credits Available: 20 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.
We aim to enable every student to have the course that they prefer, however, some courses have limited places or pre-requisits that may restrict the student's choice.
