Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms C. McConachie
This is a highly practical course, focusing on enabling physical activity and developing student’s coaching skills. In this course you will:
- Explore the impact and influences of physical activity on yourself and others, and devise a strategy for including ongoing physical activity as an essential part of your well being.
- Perform a physical activity, in relation to national standards, in your own sport or another sport learnt in class during the year.
- Develop your coaching and planning skills and improve these over a series of practical lessons where you will coach others.
- Contribute to running a health promotion activity, that provides opportunities for others to be physically active and evaluate your performance as a leader.
Course Costs and Equipment/ Stationery requirements
There may be some optional activities offered throughout the year, at student's own cost.
Recommended Prior Learning
Satisfactory completion of Year 12 Sports Science or HOD approval.
Credit Information
Total Credits Available: 25 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 25 credits.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
