11 Health Sociology & Investigations

This course will give students a solid understanding of some of the key concepts in Health, to help build a better understanding of topics in the Level 2 and 3 courses.
- We will look at change situations and how these can affect our wellbeing, as well as how we communicate with our peers.
- In the Positive Sexuality unit, students will have the opportunity to gain NCEA credits. Students will create an informative website where they will apply their learning from this unit.
- In the Nutrition unit, students will gain an understanding of what influences teenagers in their choice of foods. This helps students understand why they eat the food they do and how this affects their well being. This topic includes some practical activities around food.
- Finally we look at drugs and what influences people to take drugs, the effects on wellbeing and how they can impact on both the individual and society.

Level 1 Health Education Workbook $35 available to purchase from the Uniform/Stationery Shop.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
Total Credits Available: 4 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 4 credits.
