Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Dr A. Moir Scott

French is useful: it is the official language of some of our closest Pacific neighbours (New Caledonia and French Polynesia) and of 59 nations around the world so is well worth learning.

French is fun: you learn through pair and group work, role plays, games, songs, competitions, movies, interactive technologies, and our blended online course books, Accès Studio and Studio 1. Food is a feature of the programme in the prizes, calendar events, and festivals.

The main theme of the Year 9 programme is Introductions. You are introduced to France, to French culture, to learning a second language, and to other learners of French like yourself.

Our modules include communicating about:

  • Yourself and your friends
  • Your school and schools in France
  • Your interests and leisure activities
  • Where you live
  • Your holidays and travel
  • Animals in poetry and painting
