The skills developed in Years 9 and 10 are consolidated and extended. Students will learn to interpret data, communicate clearly, think logically, look for patterns and solve problems. The aim of mathematics at this level is to help students understand society and play a responsible part in it.
This course has one internal NCEA assessment. Students who do not yet have NCEA Numeracy will have the opportunity to complete the Numeracy assessment.
Mathematics is a foundation for further study in a range of learning areas including science, commerce, health sciences and information science. Satisfactory completion of this course will allow students to proceed to Level 2 Statistics.
A Graphics Calculator around $180 (second-hand is ok).
We aim to enable every student to have the course that they prefer, however, some courses have limited places or pre-requisits that may restrict the student's choice.
